Busta Talks About His New Deal

After reports about Busta Rhymes leaving Aftermath/Interscope were confirmed with SOHH, the superstar spoke to radio personality DJ Envy about the details of his upcoming album and how his new deal with Motown will not affect his relationship with Dr. Dre.

As previously reported by SOHH, Universal Motown reps confirmed the rapper’s move last week. Despite his departure from Aftermath, Busta phoned Envy during his “The People’s Choice” radio show on New York’s Hot 97 to promise him and Dre are still on good terms.

“Me and Dre are still good,” he explained. “So even though I’m not in business with Aftermath or Interscope, I’m still with Aftermath. Me and Dre are always gonna be good.”

Aside from an alleged industry beef with Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine, Busta thanked his former boss for dropping two music videos for the songs “We Made It” and “Don’t Touch Me (Throw Da Water On ‘Em).”

“Big up to Interscope for, you know, giving me the leaked joints and the set-ups,” he sarcastically added. “Now we gonna consider those the leaked joints.”

Originally titled Blessed and slated for release over the summer, Busta announced a new upcoming CD and release date.

“The name of the album is called B.O.M.B. December 9th. Flipmode. Universal Motown," he said. "And B.O.M.B. is the acronym for ‘Back On My Bullsh*t.’ Yeah.”

Confirming his new deal across the airwaves, Busta also revealed the project’s first single.

“I just want the world to know it’s official," he revealed. "New single from Busta Rhymes’ new album, B.O.M.B., is called ‘Arab Money.’ Let’s do it.”
